Our Methodology

The six criteria

These are the six areas we look at for every platform, on its own page, in the A–Z list and, where a figure exists, in the comparison chart. Profiles answer them from public sources where the information is available; hands-on reviews add what we saw during the test and say which parts it did not reach.

• Model variety — the range of categories and how the platform lets you filter them, based on what is publicly visible on the platform.
• Pricing — how the token or credit system works, what is free versus paid, and how transparent the platform is about costs before a user spends anything.
• Private features — what a private or one-on-one session includes (cam-to-cam, group shows, messaging) and how clearly the platform explains it.
• Mobile experience — whether the platform has a dedicated app or relies on its mobile site.
• Safety & privacy — what the platform states about account privacy, billing descriptors and account security. We treat a billing descriptor as confirmed only once it appears on our own bank statement. General advice lives in our safety guide rather than being repeated on every page.
• Support — the channels the platform offers if something goes wrong. We describe how support responds only after contacting it ourselves.

Profiles and hands-on reviews

We publish two kinds of platform page, and each page says which one it is. Today LiveJasmin and Chaturbate have hands-on reviews; the other nine platforms have profiles.

• Platform profile — explains how a platform works and what it costs using public sources: the platform’s own pages, public company records and named third-party guides. It carries the label “Profile · not tested yet” and no score.
• Hands-on review (also called a tested review) — a named person from CamsGuides has used the platform with their own account and their own money: signed up, bought at least one token or credit package and spent it on what the platform charges for. The review opens with a test record (who tested it, when, from which country, on which device, what was bought and how much was spent) and has a section on what the test did not cover. Notes and screenshots are kept on file. Published screenshots show the platform’s screens with performers’ faces blurred, and we do not name performers in the text.

What a hands-on test covers

Our full test protocol has ten checks:

• Watching for free
• Signing up, including any age verification
• What a free account adds
• The checkout: packages, prices, taxes and fees
• A purchase, with the amount paid
• The charge and billing name on our bank statement
• A private show
• Cam2cam
• The mobile site or app
• Contacting support, then deleting the account

A hands-on review does not have to complete every check, but it must say which ones it covered. We call a test complete only when it covers all ten. We do not publish per-criterion assessments from an incomplete test, and we only compare two tested platforms on checks that both tests covered.

Inside a review, each statement is one of four kinds:

• Tested — something we did during the test, backed by screenshots or session notes. It shows what happened to us on that date, not a rule for every room, account or country.
• Stated by the platform — text on the platform’s own screens or pages that we read but did not check further, such as a billing name shown at checkout.
• From other sources — laws, company records or third-party reports, linked and dated.
• Not covered — a check the test did not reach, or one we have no notes or screenshots for. We say so rather than filling the gap, and if a later test covers it, the page and its date are updated.

Current coverage: neither review is a complete test yet. Both cover watching for free, sign-up and age verification, the checkout, a purchase and private shows; the Chaturbate review also covers what a free account adds. Neither covers cam2cam, the mobile site, support or account deletion, and neither confirms the billing name on a bank statement. Each review’s test record has the details.

Where each figure comes from

Every price or fact on a platform page shows its origin:

• Stated by the platform — taken from the platform’s own pages, with the date we read them.
• Reported by a named source — from public records or third-party guides, linked and dated. Prices from these sources are shown as approximate ranges.
• Measured by CamsGuides — only in hands-on reviews, with the date of the test. These figures appear in our LiveJasmin and Chaturbate reviews and, labelled as our test, in the comparison chart. A measured figure is what we saw in one room or at one checkout on that date; performers set their own rates and prices change, so it is not a price that applies everywhere.

Note: where a figure cannot be confirmed in a primary source, we say so rather than presenting it as verified fact. Citing a source is not the same as checking it ourselves, and we do not describe it as if it were.

Scores

We do not publish overall scores or star ratings. A single number would imply a precision we cannot back up while most platforms are untested and no test is complete. Once we have complete tests of at least six platforms, we may add an assessment per criterion, each with the measured data that justifies it. Where a profile already sums up in a word what its cited sources show for a criterion (for example, “Mixed”), the page says so, and that summary is not a tested assessment. The A–Z list is alphabetical, not a ranking.

Who is responsible

Every page on CamsGuides is written, edited and fact-checked by Brian S. Robinson, who also carries out our hands-on tests (so far, LiveJasmin and Chaturbate). He checks each page against its sources before it is published and again when it is updated. Because one person does all three jobs, we do not claim an independent second check.

How we use AI tools

We use AI tools to collect and summarise public information as a starting point, to normalise prices, to turn our own notes into a structured draft, to edit for clarity and to spot contradictions between pages. We do not use them to invent experience, test results, authors, figures or verdicts, and nothing is published until a person has read and approved it. Each hands-on review says in its test record what role these tools played.

Dates and corrections

The date shown on a page is the date of its last substantive change: a price, a feature, a policy, a test or a correction. Design or navigation changes do not change it. When we correct an error, we fix the page and update that date. To report one, use our contact page.

What we don’t do

• We don’t accept payment for a better position, a score or more favourable coverage. Affiliate relationships affect nothing about what a page says — see our Affiliate Disclosure.
• We don’t call a page a review, or write in the first person about using a platform, unless someone from CamsGuides actually used it.
• We don’t create pages for every search variation (log-in pages, “is X legit” pages, one page per category). That information belongs on the platform’s own page.
• We don’t embed live previews, thumbnails or explicit content from the platforms we cover.
