The basic model

Most live cam platforms follow the same general structure: a performer broadcasts video from their own camera, and visitors watch and interact through a chat window next to the stream. What differs from platform to platform is how much of that experience is free, how interaction works, and how the paid side is priced.

Public chat rooms

On most platforms, anyone can open a performer’s public room and watch the live stream without registering, though some features — chatting, HD video, or certain rooms — may require a free account. Public rooms are typically funded by tips from viewers using the platform’s tokens or credits, rather than a fixed entry fee.

Private and interactive sessions

Alongside the public room, most platforms offer a way to move to a private or one-on-one session, usually billed per minute in tokens or credits. What’s included varies: some platforms support two-way video (often called cam-to-cam), interactive toys that respond to tips, or simply an exclusive chat with the performer. Who’s actually on the other end

Performers on these platforms are independent broadcasters, not employees of the site — the platform provides the technology, payment processing, and audience, and the performer sets their own schedule and, on many platforms, some of their own pricing for private sessions. This is closer to a marketplace than a single studio.

To simply watch public rooms, you typically don’t need anything beyond a browser and, on some platforms, a free account.
